This small painting is inspired by Maj Ragain's epic poem, "The Clouds Pile Up North"and "A Luminous Phenomenon". The first poem describes a lazy afternoon. Children flock to Maj for popsicles and advice. I imagine Maj, like a distant Taoist fisherman, under Northern Lights. "I tell them stories, how Jesus once rode a walrus down the middle of the lake. I saw it one midnight under the Aurora Borealis...Where’d the walrus come from? frowns little thumb sucking Clint." Clint is the doubting Thomas. “A Luminous Phenomenon” is about a Father’s love for his child, both temporal and eternal.
