Pat Lakatta is a classically-trained Baltimore COMPOSER-SONGWRITER-LYRICIST, whose award-winning career spans 30 years across multiple generations and musical genres. Pat's music catalog is diverse. Her classical music portrays an emotional, sentimental and thoughtful understanding of music’s transformative power to move individuals and audiences alike. Her contemporary popular songs and lyrics are at the heart of truely understanding her audiences of all ages and represent current viewpoints and inspirational messages. Pat is currently collaborating on an album project of intergenerational music across genres, incorporating her work as well as other Maryland artists, writers and composers, to be released in multiple formats in 2021.

Her debut album, Sunny Side Up, featured the singer/songwriter’s colorful and original characters and themes — music for children, not children’s music — offers children a firm foundation, to empower and follow their own musical interests. Pat’s follow-up album, Everybody's Got a Place, honored with a Parent’s Choice Award and a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award for Music Composition, provides intergenerational experiences of colorful music and varied rhythms, for children of all ages-including parents, educators, grandparents and general audiences.

Pat’s commitment to arts education, inspired her to promote student accomplishments by creating Cool After School, an original arts television series, funded through a generous grant from The Baltimore Community Foundation with underwriting and support from Morgan State University and Goucher College. The initiative supported youth, ages 11 – 14, in developing creative, technical communications skills by teaching them to write, report, produce, act and sing in eight, half-hour “reality TV” segments highlighting events and topics important their creative development and to their communities. The series was aired on the Baltimore City Education Channel.
“Cool After School” was an ambitious, successful Baltimore City-based, after-school program that Pat developed and spearheaded. Pat wrote the theme music for “Cool After School” and other inspiring songs, such as “Beautiful” and "Self- Important People” to complement this creative television series.”

Throughout Pat’s life-long involvement in facilitating interest and excitement in music, she has remained focused on developing and exploring her passion — writing across genres and connecting many generations. Her musical catalog includes: Pop,Country, Classical, Americana, Jazz/Blues, Adult Contemporary, and Children’s. Many are published, and have been performed live and recorded in-studio. Pat’s music transcends age, earning her two Billboard World Awards for her universal thematic work. She is affiliated with BMI and is a member of NSAI.

Pat Lakatta holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Communications from Goucher College, as well as a Master’s Degree in Business and Marketing from The Johns Hopkins University. She studied with international composer Robert Hall Lewis and Pat Pattison, professor at the Berklee School of Music. In addition to composing music, Pat is an R.N., whose career includes senior management positions in healthcare, public relations and communications. For the past 16 years until COVID, she owned and managed Abrakadoodle, a children’s art education program, which featured art education via a STEAM curricula and Pat's music.
