Madeline's profile

Madeline Becker is a multi-media artist and independent filmmaker. Fascinated by light, Madeline loves exploring the power and possibilities of light by working with it as a material in her sculpture and as a lighting technician in film and television. A fellow in the Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund in Film and Media Studies at Johns Hopkins University, Madeline received funding to complete her feature directorial debut, “Middleman: The Imperfect is Our Paradise” (2021) about connections between artist, place, and craftsmanship. Madeline is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 487 and most recently worked as a lighting technician and rigging electrician on "Swagger" (2021), "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" (2020), and "The Good Lord Bird" (fall 2020). Madeline’s sculptures have shown at Area 405, MAKE Studio and Artscape. With a love of learning and connecting the dots between disciplines, Madeline works to bring her cross-section of skills to the project at hand. Since 2019, she has been working on a sculpture / performance series of body masks stitched from her trash to unify and heal inner demons, shifting identities and ecological-environmental destruction. In her spare time, Madeline enjoys baking and sharing chocolate chip cookies.
