At the inception of her career as a concert flutist, Amanda Dame is fiercely active throughout the Northeast as a soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue. Originally from New York, Amanda has been a laureate in many competitions, receiving first place awards in the National Society of Arts and Letters Woodwind Competition in Washington, DC, the Best Mozart Performance category of the global Great Composer Competition Series, 2014 Central Ohio Flute Association Young Artist Competition, and the 2013 Rochester Flute Association Emerging Artist Competition. In 2015, Amanda was invited to participate in the Third International Maxence Larrieu Flute Competition in Nice, France, and was one of three flutists representing the United States. Amanda was recently a featured soloist on Peabody’s Friday Noon Recital Series.

Amanda appears frequently throughout the Baltimore area with her flute and guitar duo, Second Ceremony. For the 2018-19 school year, the ensemble is featured on the series Peabody at the Library, performing concerts at Pratt Libraries all over the city of Baltimore. Outside of chamber music, Amanda performs with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, the Peabody Opera Orchestra, and the Canton Symphony in Canton, OH. Amanda appeared as guest principal with the Canton Symphony for March 2018 Masterworks concert. During her studies at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Amanda was principal of the Oberlin Orchestra, and performed in the orchestra at Chicago Symphony Center as a part of their 150th-Anniversary tour. Amanda also appeared frequently as an ensemble-member for faculty concerto recordings. She has appeared in the Schikele Bassoon Concerto and the Augusta Reed Thomas Bassoon Concerto released on the Oberlin and Naxos labels on the album Full Moon in the City. She has also appeared in recordings of the Carter Flute Concerto and the Trigos Guitar Concerto No. 1 (forthcoming releases). During recesses from Oberlin, Amanda has attended the Pierre Monteux School and Festival, the Miami Summer Music Festival, and the Bach Institute at Emmanuel Music. Amanda has received her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory and a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Oberlin College. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music at the Peabody Conservatory, under the guidance of Marina Piccinini.

With a great love for teaching, Amanda maintains a private studio in Baltimore, MD and online. During the summer, she is the Flute Faculty at Camp Encore/Coda in Sweden, ME, where she teaches flute lessons, leads repertoire and technique masterclasses, coaches chamber music ensembles, and teaches musicianship. While at Oberlin, Amanda served as a Secondary lessons teacher for two years, responsible for teaching flute to undergraduate non-majors at Oberlin College. She also served as Teaching Assistant at the Oberlin Flute Academy for two summers.
