www.WilburMReeling.com -- With my 2009 works on paper I have both drawn inspiration from and borrowed from, some antiquated historical techniques within this unexplored imaginary and adventurous territory. I have included a demonstration of a symbolist world of imagination and psychology (with abstractionist impulses), and historical interpretations using the symbolical power and meaning driven by interpreted connections between my works and their titles. These historical styles and uses encompass beer's extremely rich and vibrant history, and has been used in conjunction with more traditional techniques to capture a most subtle emotion. In using this I have accomplished simultaneously what I call the four "M" properties of mind, matter, myth and meaning. I use some of the world's finest beers such as Helles - Blond Bock - Saison - India Pale Ales - Hefeweizen - ESB - Brown Ale - Porters - Black Chocolate Stout - Imperial Stout - Barleywines - Pilsner - Golden and Amber Lagers from premier breweries . These act as my medium and are used in the very act of creating my works, borrowing from the ancients of 3500 B.C. where the earliest physical evidence of barley based fermented beverage is recorded. My techniques involve using my own hand-ground pigments incorporated with World Beer styles that have lived in breweries for over a millennium, and achieves a synthesis of true painting's beauty, adding color from and with the influence of beer.
